About Pleasant Childcare
Pleasant Childcare of North York Inc. is a non-profit, community based childcare center located in the heart of Toronto’s North York Newtonbrook neighbourhood. We offer pre-school, kindergarten, school-ages and summer programs at our two locations – Pleasant and St Paschal. Both centers strive to meet the needs of the child and to create an atmosphere that fosters cooperation, responsibility and order. We work together toward a common goal: to help children achieve their potential.
28 Years of Excellence (1986 to 2014)
Incorporated since 1986 and operating out of Pleasant Public School we offer quality care programming to meet the needs of the community. Ages of our children range from 1.5 up to 12 years and we accept both subsidized and non-subsidized families. In 2006, we opened a second location at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic School under the Best Start program. St. Paschal Day Care is about a 5 minute walk from Pleasant and offers pre-school, kindergarten and school age program for ages 2.5 up to 12 years. Our staff is dedicated in providing a warm, caring and stimulating environment for the children in our care and strives to ensure that each child feels secure and happy while in our care.
Board of Directors
Pleasant Childcare’s operation is overseen by a Board of Directors that meets on monthly basis. The Board is comprised of parents of children attending both centers. Our Board of Directors can be reached at: pcc-board@rogers.com
Who we serve
Pleasant Childcare Center serves the North York community of Newtonbrook area between Drewery Ave and Steeles Ave and Yonge St and Bathurst St. We maintain a waiting list for spaces and priority is given to children in the immediate area.
Facilities / Space
Our facilities are located on the premises of Pleasant Public School and Pt Paschal Baylon Catholic School. All rooms boast with large windows offering plenty of natural sunlight and offer a variety of age and development appropriate experiences. Our pre-school and kindergarten rooms have their own washroom facilities.
Both centers have an outdoor playground dedicated to our pre-school and kindergarten children. School-age children enjoy the outdoor space of the Pleasant Public School yard and the adjacent Moore Park. Pleasant location recently built an additional outdoor space for pre-school/kindergarten children.
Hours of Operation
Modified Hours For Covid: 7:30am to 5:30pm
The center is open on PA days and during the holiday breaks.
We are closed on the following statutory holidays: New Year’s Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
